How to Import a Reference

A reference is a teaching audio clip you can attach to an assignment so a student can listen to an example. Importing a supported audio file saves it as a draft; review and publish it before using it in assignments.

Steps

  1. Open References. Select New Reference.
  2. Choose the source. Select Import audio.
  3. Add the file. Select Browse files, choose your audio, and preview the clip.
  4. Save the draft. Add any useful labels, then select Save reference.

If something goes wrong

If the file cannot be selected, check that it is M4A, MP3, WAV, or WebM audio, then try another supported file.

💡 Tip: Name the Clip label for the teaching use, such as “Slow left hand, bars 1–8,” instead of the filename.

How to Reuse a Reference

A published reference is a teaching audio clip already prepared for assignments. Reusing it attaches the same clip to another student's assignment, so you can share a listening example without recording or importing another copy.
