How to Add Another Guardian

Share a temporary code with another parent or guardian. They must request access, and an authorized existing guardian must approve before they can manage the profile.

Steps

1. Open Family. Check the child and choose Add another guardian.
2. Authenticate. Use Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. The code appears automatically after a successful check. Check the displayed child name and portrait or initials.
3. Share directly. Let the person scan with their system camera, or use Copy link or Share link. If scanning fails, select Show plain code.
4. Review their request. The person signs in with Apple and selects Request access. Their pending row appears under Who can record & manage in Family. Tap it to open the approval sheet.

ℹ️ Note: Codes admit requests for 15 minutes; submitted requests await approval for 24 hours. Closing the screen leaves sent links valid. Cancel sharing invalidates the code. Reopening Add another guardian after authentication replaces it and invalidates unresolved requests.

⚠️ Warning: The portrait and name are visible to anyone viewing this screen. Share link sends only the opaque link. If the recipient installs the app afterward, they must reopen the link or ask for a fresh code.
