How to Listen to a Shared Take

Shared takes contains approved Premium recordings linked to one dated assignment. Ordinary local recordings remain on the family's device; practice dates and durations can still be available without audio.

Before you begin

You need an active connection to the student. Their family needs eligible Premium access, recording backup enabled, an approved and completed backup for your assignment, and teacher listening allowed.

Steps

  1. Open the assignments. In Students, select the student, then View assignments.
  2. Choose the dated plan. Select the piece and open Review. Use a dated tab, or Assignment date on a phone, for an earlier plan.
  3. Listen to the take. Find Shared takes, check the recording date, and use its audio player. Select More recordings if available.

If something goes wrong

No shared takes for this assignment. means no eligible recording is available for that plan. Check the assignment date. For a playback error, select Retry playback or ask the family to check their sharing settings.

ℹ️ Note: Family permission, Premium access, and the active teacher connection are checked again when audio is requested. Access can stop after it was previously available.

How to Review Student Practice

The Practice Dashboard shows shared practice time by day and piece. Use it before a lesson to discuss participation and plan what to address next. Local recordings stay on the family's device. Approved Premium backups may be available under an assignment's Shared takes when teacher listening is allowed.

How to Set the Next Piece Goal

A next plan continues a piece with prefilled practice details. Reviewing a saved assignment and publishing new homework are separate actions.
